Recap of My #30DayTVChallenge

The thing about the last two years is that I’ve consumed a lot of television, and with that, I’ve formed a few opinions, and that’s before you start digging back into the shows I watched growing up.

So, on June 1st I decided to do this challenge that was going around Twitter. The challenge gives you thirty days of prompts to answer. Starting on June 1st, I answered one question a day for thirty days. This is the first post and the start of the thread that contains all my answers:

Here were my answers.

June 1 :: A Show That Shouldn’t Have Been Cancelled

For this one, I could have gone for the low-hanging fruit and said Firefly, that show is the poster child for “TV Shows Gone Before Their Time” but I went with Farscape instead, which still shouldn’t have been canceled. Am I wrong?

June 2 :: A Show You Wish More People Were Watching

The great thing about the internet is that you never feel alone, but I selected Jane the Virgin for this one because not many people in my day-to-day life watch it (that I know of).

June 3 :: Your Favorite New Show (Debuted This Season)

I haven’t picked up a lot of new TV shows in the last couple of years, but this year, a lot of the shows that I really enjoyed have ended, so I started watching The Resident.

June 4 :: Your Favorite TV Show Ever

Stargate: Atlantis is the first show I remember really getting involved with regarding fandom and it’s a show that I still enjoy to this day.

June 5 :: A Show You Hate

It’s really not that I hate Gotham. It just lost me! If you follow my reviews at Tell-Tale TV, you’ll know that I covered Season 3 and I just couldn’t figure out what the appeal of their villains that season. They seemed to lack the grit of Fish Mooney and Jerome from previous seasons.

June 6 :: Favorite Episode of Your Favorite TV Show

I could have picked any of a handful of Stargate: Atlantis episodes for this one, but I ultimately went with “38 Minutes” because it was at a tough place, the show as new, they’d spent the last two episodes laying out exposition, and they managed to keep the pacing up. Plus, the bug on Sheppard’s neck is a key point in the Stargate: Atlantis mythology in seasons to come.

June 7 :: Least Favorite Episode of Your Favorite Show

Every show has one episode you’re just not that into. For me, that episode was Stargate: Atlantis “The Tower.”

June 8 :: A Show Everyone Should Watch

I have to say The Americans. It was a well-done show and it was as much about character as it was about Soviet spies in the United States. I actually want to rewatch it at some point in the near future.

June 9 :: Best Scene Ever?

I may just be on a The Americans hangover, but that parking garage scene made their series finale for me.

June 10 :: A Show You Thought You Wouldn’t Like But Ended Up Loving

It sounds ridiculous when I remember this, but I didn’t think I would like Battlestar Galactica. For the first season and a half it was the show that was on after Stargate: Atlantis and I waited for it to end so that I could rewatch the Stargates. There’s a girl on LiveJournal out there whose probably saying “I told you so!” right now.

June 11 :: A Show That Disappointed You

Shows that don’t live up to my expectations usually aren’t something I keep watching, but I finished Once Upon a Time and I wasn’t blown away by the ending.

June 12 :: An Episode You’ve Watched More Than Five Times

Someone out there probably remembers when I found the show Sanctuary around 2011. I am pretty sure “Veritas” was on my iPhone so I could watch it after the kids I was babysitting went to bed. I liked it that much!

June 13 :: Favorite Childhood Show

I think a large part of the attraction here was Catalina’s rainbow hair.

June 14 :: Favorite Male Character

Nick Miller never fails to makes me laugh!

June 15 :: Favorite Female Character

I have a lot of love for Helen Magnus in Sanctuary. She was such a complicated character. Maybe it it has something to do with vampire blood.

June 16 :: Your Guilty Pleasure Show

In all seriousness, Jane the Virgin is actually a really good show, and I enjoy it a lot, the outrageousness is what makaes it a guilty pleasure for me.

June 17 :: Favorite Mini-Series

Battlestar Galactica started off strong with a miniseries, and I think that for this show it was the best option. There was no way they would set up those story arcs in an hour.

June 18 :: Favorite Title Sequence

I am not sure how many of you remember The 4400, but I loved this show so much, and I absolutely adored the title sequence.

June 19 :: Best TV Show Cast

I have really liked the talent on Orange is the New Black. There are so many great actresses and they all crush their roles.

June 20 :: Favorite Kiss

Jiya and Rufus have got me on Timeless. I love Rufus’ humor and I’ve been dying to see more of Jiya. The end of “Stranded” when hee completely chickens out of telling her how he feels and starts talking about a plastic tube is just adorable.

June 21 :: Favorite Ship

John and Aeryn from Farscape are the epitome of #relationshipgoals. In November, Tell-Tale TV posted a list of TV items we were thankful for, and mine was John and Aeryn’s relationship.

June 22 :: Favorite Series Finale

Yes, maybe not everything gets answered in the Lost finale, but it is still a good ending to a series that made us all scratch our heads and say: “WTF?!”

June 23 :: Most Annoying Character

Rodney McKay! I love you to death, but damn you’re annoying. I can see why Sheppard carries around a lemon. (But seriously, he also makes me laugh, so I can’t imagine Stargate: Atlantis without him. He’s like a very brainy Rufus!)

June 24 :: Best Quote

I don’t know why, but I always found Sarah Manning’s “I had to go to Bed, Bath, and Beyond okay? No one wants to admit that!” the wittiest comeback!

June 25 :: A Show You Plan on Watching (Old or New)

My next show that I plan on watching is probably going to be Killing Eve!

June 26 :: OMG! WTF! Season Finale

I really have no idea how the writers are going to get out of the gaping plothole they created at the end of Blindspot Season 3.

June 27 :: Best Pilot Episode

This scene! That is all you need to know!

June 28 :: First T.V. Show Obsession

This was one of the first shows I remember really delving into! In retrospect, I don’t know what I saw in it, but at the time I absolutely loved it.

June 29 :: Current T.V. Show Obsession

So I’m going along my merry way watching Timeless when NBC up and cancels it! Not cool NBC! Not cool!

June 30 :: Saddest Character Death

Jasper Jordan’s death in The 100 Season 4 absolutely gutted me!

And that was my #30DayTVShowChallenge! It was fun and made me think of a lot of TV shows I hadn’t watched in a while.
